What makes The Groucho Club special?
Few people know that The Groucho Club is licensed for weddings, making us a unique but also surprisingly romantic place to tie the knot.
The club is renowned for its stunning contemporary art collection which forms a sophisticated backdrop to the most important of occasions.
The Groucho Club Events team can tailor to every whim, need and desire with immaculate attention to detail. Whether it’s bespoke menus created by the clubs Executive Head Chef, or decadent flower arrangements, the team have it all in hand so the couple can dance the night away.
The Groucho Club's history
The Groucho Club is a private members club, dreamt up by a group of female publishers in 1985 as an alternative to stuffy gentleman’s clubs who wanted somewhere to meet and relax.
Premises were founded in Soho, the bohemian heart of London, and the doors opened to a membership drawn from the Arts, Publishing, Film, Music and Advertising, many of whom were working in the area. It soon became the approved watering hole for the creative industries.
The most popular ceremony room for weddings
The Gennaro Room overlooks Dean Street from the second floor of the Club. With superb light, this adaptable yet elegant room is perfect for an intimate 60 person licensed ceremony. Followed by a beautiful reception in our Dining Room, where glasses can be raised underneath an ornate arched, glass ceiling, featuring a stunning 1970’s crystal chandelier. And what would Groucho be without a party? The Soho Bar is where everything gets hazy; the impressive space holds up to 150 people ensuring all those plus 1’s can join the celebration until the early hours.
