International Day of Play

Today, Tuesday 11th June, is the first annual International Day of Play. A day that marks the importance of play in the lives of our children and how we should be making opportunities for them to have more of it to improve wellbeing and boost creativity. Being involved with weddings means we see lots of wonderful children and it is always great to see them get involved with the wedding fun – throwing petals down an aisle, presenting rings to the happy couple, sharing a reading or giving it their all on the dancefloor! Always be sure to encourage the young ones as these moments help to build confidence and may even become a core memory.

On a day like this, we would like to remind you that while play is fundamental for children, it is great for adults too! There are a host of health benefits including relieving stress and feeling younger for longer. Read more here.

So have fun with your wedding day. Get creative with the ceremony script or order of the day. Wear the colour or cut that suits you. Do not feel the need to conform to any traditions because it is what others are doing. Design your special day to ensure you and your guests have the most fun possible and let your registrars take care of the serious bits! Weddings can be stressful due to all the planning and expectation that goes into them but having playful moments go a long way for all involved.

A quote from the children, ‘We want adults to remember that play connects us all’.
